The Consortium Multi Academy Trust - Executive Leadership Team

Yox Valley Partnership is part of The Consortium Multi Academy Trust.  The Trust has established an Executive Leadership Team, which meets regularly to monitor, assess and provide strategic direction to the Trust and its Academy Schools.  The ELT consists of the following managers who actively work with its schools to ensure that they are striving to achieve the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

Following a successful career in social regeneration supporting adults into learning and work, Tamsin entered higher education as a mature student, achieving a bachelor degree focused on the theory of education and learning, with the principal of equality and access for all learners running through its core. 

In 2009, Tamsin was appointed in her first post as Classroom Teacher & SEN Coordinator at Great Finborough Primary School and in January 2013 took on the headship of Thorndon CEVCP School. Following an intense and rapid period of improvement, the school was proud to achieve a very secure ‘Good’ Ofsted judgement in May 2015 along with a ‘Good’ judgement with ‘Outstanding’ Leadership and Management in the SIAMS (Church Inspection), also in May 2015. 

The Ofsted inspection document highlighted the positive impact of the school’s partnership working, in particular its work with the Mews Family of Schools, which included the Waveney Valley Partnership.  This collaborative working, in a safe and transparent environment, enabled leaders and the wider school communities to benefit from joint strategic planning, with individuals focussing on their specific areas of specialism and proving that effective partnership working and collaboration can enable all to fulfil their full potential - mirroring the Trust's central ethos of The Consortium Multi Academy Trust.

As Vice Principal and Education & Learning Manager, Tamsin is responsible for ensuring that the teaching and learning in our schools is exceptional.

Tina Flannigan, Operations Manager

Tina left school in July 1996 after her GCSEs to become a Mechanical Engineering apprentice for a company that manufactured diesel engine components. After qualifying she was then employed by the company as works engineer for a number of years. During this time she gained her ONC, HNC and HND in Mechanical Engineering as well as other technical certifications.

In 2005 Tina moved into the leisure industry as a service engineer working on a holiday park’s facilities where she gained experiences and technical certifications in servicing and maintaining swimming and spa pool plant and equipment and also became a retained Firefighter for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, serving the community in life and property saving operations.

Since 2008, Tina has been working in or with schools in various capacities. She started as the Premises Assistant for Mildenhall College of Technology (now Mildenhall College Academy), progressing to the Premises Manager position. During this time she was also a community governor at St Mary’s Primary Academy in Mildenhall with health and safety responsibilities. Whilst carrying out this role, Tina became NEBOSH qualified in Health and Safety Management and managed a number of maintenance projects across the sites.

In 2012, Tina moved to the Local Authority as the Corporate Property Advisor for the Central Suffolk area and was responsible for assisting and advising schools and corporate building users on their buildings and facility’s needs.

As Operations Manager, Tina is responsible for the estates and operations management of The Consortium Multi Academy Trust and its schools.

Liz Frere-Smith, HR & Finance Manager

Liz began working within the education system in March 2007 at Halesworth Middle School where she completed the Certificate in School Business Management. 

In September 2011, Liz was appointed as Administration Assistant at St Edmunds Primary School (Hoxne), later being promoted to bursar across the partnership with Mendham Primary School, where she established joint finances, a single bank account and associated budget plan across both schools sites. Liz was instrumental in re-negotiating many contracts for the Federation, which created substantial savings.

Prior to this employment, Liz worked in the Financial Sector in London, completed the FSAs Stockbroking exams, and became a qualified stockbroker. 

As the Trust's HR & Finance Manager, Liz is responsible for the financial and HR management, compliance and reporting of the Trust and its schools.

Robin Chew, Conversions Manager

Having gained a degree in Accounting and Finance, Robin worked for many years in the City of London as an equities analyst and options trader in the fund management industry. He subsequently became a consultant, advising UK and overseas companies on their relations and communications with institutional investors. Robin also specialised in advising investors on corporate governance arrangements at UK companies, helping to develop policy in what was a rapidly changing field.

Moving to Suffolk in 2001, Robin worked for Suffolk County Council for over four years, where he was involved in resolving highways problems by achieving negotiated solutions and preparing the associated legal orders.

In recent years, Robin has worked as a freelance consultant on financial issues, including a long-term project providing research on mergers and acquisitions policy for a corporate finance firm.

As Conversions manager, Robin is responsible for leading the conversions of joining schools to The Consortium Multi Academy Trust through the legal processes.
